Cooperative Framework

Maskan Housing Cooperative is established as a member-owned organization in Alberta, governed by a board elected from among its members. Every member has a voice and a vote in the direction of the co-op.

Sharia Compliance

All financing and investment structures are reviewed to ensure they remain free of Riba (interest), gharar (excessive uncertainty), and any haram activity. Maskan follows established Islamic finance models adapted to the Canadian housing landscape.

Transparency & Reporting

Annual financial statements and operational summaries are shared with all members. The cooperative is committed to clear, honest reporting and open communication.

Member Rights & Responsibilities

Members agree to abide by the co-op’s by-laws and contribute to its mission. In return, they receive equitable access to home financing opportunities and a share in the cooperative’s ethical returns.
